Live at the Wild Fern

So happy to present Marcus who spent this summer creating art and music with The Sable Project right here in Stockbridge!!!

Hailing from Indianapolis, Indiana, Marcus Jade is a singer-songwriter, and guitar player who started self-learning his way around a guitar at 14 years old. By that time, he discovered he was drawn into and emerged in Indianapolis' eclectic music and art scene that found him at everything from house shows, underground and basement sets, to DIY venues. His appreciation of music allowed him to mesh with many outfits across genres, from Hip-Hop, to Punk, to Metal, to Zydeco, before settling into his own skin. This expression found him re-igniting his love and passion for blues music, writing and composing his own music. Currently living and jamming in Brooklyn, he has found a steady rhythm between offering his medicine at shows across the New York City metro area and producing more songs.

As a solo act, Marcus extensively performs on the east coast, in cities like Boston, Philadelphia and DC. In March, Marcus finished a Red Gorilla showcase and played during SXSW, in Austin, Texas. He and his friends put together unique intimate showcases in Austin on a pay-what-you-wish basis on rooftops, poolsides, and in private homes.

In June, Marcus Set out to live off-grid in the in central Vermont, living and working among artist apart of the The Sable Project.

A regular Artery performer, Marcus organizes showcases ranging from Art bursts, Black Power Potluck Dinners to Robert Johnson discussion showcases. With over 80 Showcases under his belt and several EPs already under his belt, Marcus Jade is going places fast.

ABOUT BWSF 2018:
Brooklyn Wildlife Summer Festival is an annual, diverse & synergistic, indoor and outdoor festival featuring some of the best Independent talent from New York and beyond. The goal of the event is to galvanize the Indie arts and music community and represent its flourishing cultural growth within Brooklyn, with a special focus on Bushwick. BWSF 2018 caters to a new youth culture that is multi-faceted, variegated, ethnically ambiguous and racially interwoven - everyone parties together. We work to give a voice to the disenfranchised, marginalized and artistically progressive. BWSF 2018 is a true appreciation and celebration of Indie culture. We take an authentic approach to create the largest platform possible for artistic presentation without any corporate sponsorships or industry funding – only art, music and culture in the purest form.

BWSF focuses on performers in the Brooklyn arts and entertainment scene, consequently, due to the large presence of international artists in Brooklyn, the festival also includes performers and participants from all around the world. There will be representation from UK, Germany, Denmark, China, Jamaica, Russia, Japan, Cuba and more.

BWSF 2018 SEEKS TO REACH:
Social progressives, music and art lovers, people that are not satisfied with what is currently on the TV, Radio, Movie Screen or Gallery Walls.
ages 21+
The festival attracts individuals who:
• Are seekers, social explorers, tastemakers and enjoy being ahead of the curve.
• Believe old-fashioned business models are outdated and traditional vehicles for communication (TV and Radio) are no longer in tune with the consumer of today.
• Have turned their backs on the status quo and crave progressive thought, art and culture.
• Artists, musicians, young professionals, taste makers, and innovators.
WHAT WE DON'T WANT:
Hate speech
Promotion of senseless or gratuitous violence
Exclusivity, entitlement or the expression of privilege

WE WANT TO BE THE NEW CMJ, THE NEW WMC, THE NEW SXSW, .. let’s do it . ALL INDIE - looking for bands, vendors, dancers and creatives of all walks of life. Makers/techfolks welcome.

WIde Open Spaces

Cool off in South Austin's country as visiting artists perform intimate, high energy sets!

Marcus Jade - This bluesy singer/songwriter immersed himself in Indianapolis' eclectic music and art scene growing up and performed everything from house shows, underground and basement sets to DIY venues. A regular Artery performer, Marcus organizes showcases ranging from Black Power Potluck Dinners to Robert Johnson discussion showcases. With several EPs already under his belt, Marcus Jade is going places fast.

Taylor Plas - An Americana/Soul/Folk singer/songwriter. Her work has been described as “raw," "powerful," "controlled chaos;" this performance artist takes you on a journey through the senses with her dark, haunting sound and dedication to truthful theatrical storytelling as she channels the emotional depths heard before in the voices of Patsy Cline, Sharon Jones, Etta James, Gillian Welch and Dinah Washington. Her haunting vocal stylings can be heard with the Noise Downstairs, a Brooklyn-based soul/pop band, with Mama Juke, a pop/roots/country band with regular gigs around the city, as a folk/soul duo with Rashad "Downtown" Brown, and performing solo at any number of local venues, house shows, DIY spaces and Artery-Powered Showcases throughout New York and major cities in the US. She is currently arranging new songs for a debut album, due out early 2019.

Christoph Carr - Anti corporate, pro creative multi media conceptual artist, show booker and organizer. Founder of Brooklyn Wildlife, a Creative Services Firm that has organized hundreds of shows annually last year. Chris's work explores concepts like political economy, social stratification, race, class, gender, love, sex, fear, technology, and semiotics. From Chris: "I rap, take photos, make synthesizer drone music, I am a documentarian as well as fine art photographer. Music and art are an expression of love and my goal is to share it with as many people as possible." Re: Artery, "I love intimate shows and unique, once in a life time experiences with artists. My goal for the next year is to rap and present more art to people than I ever have by going into homes, playing rooftops and small gatherings at a high frequency... I wanna play more shows than anybody."

DVBBS - "JDVBBS was born out of an amalgamation of all of my previous musical lives. I’ve gathered all of my knowledge, talent and inspiration to bring forth something new.
